What the app is
Penny Payday is a paycheck planning app. You type in your paycheck, your bills, and rough spending, and the app does arithmetic on those numbers to give you a daily safe-to-spend figure. It is not financial advice.
No account, no bank link
There is no sign-up and no login. The app never asks for bank credentials and never connects to a bank, card, or payroll provider. Your plan (paycheck, bills, envelopes, goals and logged spending) is stored on your device in the app's local storage. Deleting the app deletes it. Some of those numbers are also sent as anonymous usage analytics, described below. The app also has a "Delete all my data" control in Settings.
What leaves your device
- Purchases. Subscriptions are processed by Apple. To know whether you are subscribed, the app uses RevenueCat, which receives an anonymous app user ID generated on your device, the purchase receipt from Apple, and the app's random analytics identifier so purchase events can be counted alongside anonymous usage. RevenueCat forwards subscription events (such as a trial starting, a renewal, or a cancellation) to PostHog under that same random identifier. RevenueCat does not receive your paycheck, bills, or spending. See RevenueCat's privacy policy at revenuecat.com/privacy.
- Usage analytics. The app sends anonymous usage events to PostHog, such as which onboarding step was completed, with a random device identifier. Events can include the numbers you enter, such as a spend you log, a goal target, or the daily number Penny computes, and the job, pay type and city you pick for comparisons. Your paycheck amount is sent as a range. None of it is attached to a name, email, phone number, or account, and we turn off PostHog's location lookup. See posthog.com/privacy.
- Error and crash reports. When something goes wrong in the app, it sends an error report so we can fix it: the error message, where in the app it happened, and technical details such as the app version, device model and operating system version. Reports go to PostHog under the random device identifier, and to Sentry, our crash reporting service, which does not receive your name, email or the numbers in your plan (we turn off Sentry's collection of personal data). See sentry.io/privacy. Apple may also share anonymized crash logs with us if you have opted in on your device.
What we do not do
We do not sell data. We do not use advertising identifiers or tracking across other apps and websites. We do not collect your name, email, contacts, precise location, or photos.

Notifications
Reminders are scheduled locally on your device. Nothing is sent to a server to deliver them. You can turn them off in iOS Settings at any time.
Children
The app is not directed at children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect information from them.
